ARCS Celebrates World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day

Afghan Red Crescent Society has celebrated 8th May, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement World Day.
Dr. Mirwais Akram (ARCS Vice and Acting President), Dr. Nilab Mobarez (ARCS Secretary General), heads of departments, staff and volunteers, Afghan government authorities and delegates of ICRC and IFRC were the participants of the ceremony.
Dr. Mirwais Akram, ARCS Vice and Acting President highly valued ARCS volunteers’ dedication and emphasized on ARCS independency, neutrality and impartiality which increase the value and acceptance of our humanitarian activities that insure ARCS’ staff and volunteers’ safety in most remote and insecure areas.
Dr. Nilab Mobarez, ARCS Secretary General, said that ARCS had achieved considerable achievements and had accomplished vitally important humanitarian missions so far; but, further improvements and developments are necessary.
In the other hand, the International Committee of the Red Cross delegate spoke subject to the Movement’s rules in supporting ARCS.
Subsequently, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies delegate said that IFRC is supportive of ARCS strategy and programs at all times.
Finally, since the former president was out of country, ARCS Vice President and Secretary General have presented an appreciation letter to ARCS’ former president’s husband and sister; and a few of employees in ARCS’ Kabul Marastoon have received appreciation Latters as well.
