Our Perspective

ARCS SPECIAL WEEK IS A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY TO FULFILL HUMANITARIAN LIABILITY
Oct 18, 2017

In year 1331 Hijri-Shamsi (1952), Afghan Red Crescent Society has monopolized the last week of month Mizan (16-22 October) and named the ARCS Special Week to introduce the National Society throughout Afghanistan, gather peoples’ donations and strengthen its financial abilities. Since then, ARCS has been celebrating this week at headquarter and provincial branches and running campaigns to collect Afghan benevolent compatriots’ donations; in the other hand, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan President has been writing his supportive message to broadcast as well. Priority for provincial branches, during the Special Week, is to introduce the Movement’s seven fundamental principles, illustrate and publicize the NS’s humanitarian programs and objectives. During this week, ARCS staff and volunteers focus on selling the Special Week donation tickets to drivers, shopkeepers and students to strengthen the ARCS financial abilities for enhancing responses to disasters. In fact, the Special Week is a special opportunity to appreciate volunteers’ utmost attempts in rendering services and distributing relief items to affected people at most remote areas where no one else can reach; and, a chance to all Afghans to donate their relief items to ARCS with an aim to alleviate the man-made and natural-affected population’s suffering throughout Afghanistan. ARCS is an independent, impartial, neutral and sole-national humanitarian organization that the government does not allocate any budget to the National Society’s programs. Thus, people’s donations during ARCS Special Week is one of the most important source that supports NS’s goals. Consequently, Afghan Red Crescent Society asks all Afghans in any career to contribute their relief items during the Special Week and fulfill their national and religious liabilities toward the affected populations.
