ARCS Special Week, the Week of Donations
Oct 04, 2016

Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) as the 83rdmember of the International Red Cross and Red CrescentMovement has been following the fundamental principles for more than 8 decades. ARCS is the sole country-wide humanitarian organization that is auxiliary to government in humanitarian affairs during armed conflicts and natural disasters. Every year, the last week of month Mizan (about 15th – 21st October) is known as ARCS Special Week, so ARCS staff and volunteers run a donation collection campaign to gather relief items from people throughout Afghanistan. The special week is an opportunity to promote, publicize the seven fundamental principles and ARCS objectives, and appreciate volunteers’ utmost attempts in providing relief items to affected people in most remote areas where no one else can reach. ARCS is an independent, impartial, neutral and sole-national humanitarian organization that the government does not allocate any budget to the National Society’s programs. Thus, people’s donations during ARCS Special Week is one of the most important source that supports NSgoal. During the Special Week, Afghan generous and benevolent compatriots including merchants, Government and NGO employees and drivers… contribute to ARCS. Subsequently, the week is a special opportunity for all afghanto donate relief items with an aim to alleviate the man-made and natural-affected population throughout Afghanistan. In the other hand, ARCS runs workshops for religious scholars and traffic polices to familiar them with National Society’s objectives, so they will facilitate the relief donation process. Finally, In the ARCS Special Week ceremony, supportive message of Islamic Republic of AfghanistanPresident will be read, and additional speeches will be presented by high profile individuals to motivate people for further donations.
